Oakham Ales – Great Gustav 4.5%

Oakham Ales - Great Gustav
Oakham Ales – Great Gustav

This is a light lemon-golden ale from Oakham Ales. It has a malty aroma with a taste of malt balanced well with citrus grapefruit from the hops. The follow-on after-taste as the bitterness of a well hopped IPA type.
This is a good refreshing ale with a great balance of malt and hops, with grapefruit notes that do not overpower like some U.S. beers.
This beer has been specially brewed for Wetherspoon’s autumn International beer festival 2014.

Cider Pig ciders

Had a good evening at The Quarterdeck in Wells, with a display of Orchard Pig Cider from West Bradley near Glastonbury.
Had a good chat about ciders and brewing and a taster of Orchard Pig Truffler, their bottled dry cider. With a strong apple aroma, this cider is a very pleasant dry cider with a sweeter follow-on.  Learned their medium sweet Reveller will be on draught at The Reeds Arms in Burnham-on-Sea. Look forward to trying their other ciders.
