This is a black coloured ale with a strong coffee aroma. It is a sweet ale with a strong roast coffee taste and chocolate notes.

This craft brewery is based in Finchampstead
Berkshire and describes its beer as “Beer for coffee lovers”.
This beer from their selection needs to be described by the brewery notes “Broken Dream is deep and complex. She lurks in your imagination. She binds smoke and coffee aromas with chocolate, milk and oats to create something thick, velvety and slick”.

This is a dark chestnut brown coloured with a sweet malt aroma. It has a sweet malt taste with chocolate notes and a hop bitter finish.

A very good dark ale I give it my 5*
This is brewed in Wiveliscombe in Somerset.

This is the Best Bitter ale from Cheddar Ales brewed in Cheddar, Somerset. It is an Amber coloured ale with a malty aroma. The ale has a hop bitter taste with strong grapefruit notes.  Challenger bittering hops, related to Northdown and Northern Brewer, add the citrus grapefruit taste. Compare to their ever popular Potholer Bitter.

This is an amber coloured ale with grapefruit and tropical fruit notes of mango. The ale has a malt and citrus grapefruit taste with a warming background.

This is an  unpasteurised, unfiltered, natural beer.

This bee is brewed with  American and Southern Hemisphere hops with rue malt giving a spicy taste with a lot of dry hopping.

This is a golden coloured ale with a citrus grapefruit, resinous and tropical aromas. It has an initial sweet taste immediately followed by a grapefruit taste and bitterness. It is a typical APA.

This is an unfiltered, unpasteurised natural beer.


The Brewery notes say the concept was to create a juicy tropical beer. A brew you can sip on and drink all day, rammed with juicy malts and huge tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit. Massive additions of whole leaf American hops are added in ever increasing numbers at the end of the boil giving huge hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped for days, driving the punchy aromas so you can smell it from miles away!

This is a dark brown ale with a coffee aroma. It is a dry porter ale, with a black coffee taste and a hint of smokiness and blackcurrent. This ale lacks the warming winter fruit taste of stronger porters, which makes it more drinkable as a session beer for the darker ale drinker.
This is produced as a live ale, so needs to be cooled and poured carefully to avoid the sediment.

Madrigal Craft Brewery is a new brewer based in the old coach house of Lynmouth Manor, Lynmouth North Devon. The brewery is a small batch artisan brewer producing a range of ales. Their beers are not fined, relying on natural deposition of the yeast fines.

This is a chestnut coloured ale with a strong malty aroma, with notes of the brewing aroma. It has a deep rich taste of malts and toffee, balanced with good hop notes and woody aftertaste. This is a good warming winter ale. 5*

Morland was originally brewed in Oxfordshire before being taken over by Green King. The beers are brewed under the Morland name by Greene King in Bury St Edmunds. This is a rich malty English Strong Ale variant of the famous Old Speckled Hen. It is a blended ale with a base ale using crystal malt to give the toffee taste and Challenger, First Gold and Goldings hops. It is blended with a 12% strong ale to give a beer in the style of Suffolk Old Ale.
