Brouwerij Steenberge – St Stefanus Blonde 7%
This is a Belgian Abbey style blonde beer, which is dark golden in colour and a toffee – marmalade aroma with spicy notes. It has a warming maltiness and light bitterness and the spice notes of a Belgian White Bier attributed to coriander.
The St Stefanus brand is a premium range produced in Belgium by the Japanese brewing company Asahi. On the label it claims to be an Abbaye beer and carries a date of anno 1295, which is the date when this the monks of St Steffanus began brewing. The Abbey ultimately passed its recipe to the Van Streenberge family brewery, now owned by Asahi.
